Barry Naquin Obituary
Major Barry B. Naquin, 52, a native of Riverside, Calif., and resident of Thibodaux, died Monday, March 28, 2005.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church in Thibodaux. Mass will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church, with burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Waguespack Naquin; his parents, Jackie “Jacko” and Ruby Zeringue Naquin; one son, Pfc. Philip J. Naquin; one daughter, Renee C. Naquin; two brothers, Mike and Mark Naquin; and one sister, Connie N. Stuckey.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Ada Arcement Zeringue and Henry B. and Elise Riviere Naquin.
He received his nursing degree from Nicholls State University and was employed as a registered nurse at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center prior to his illness. He received a bachelor of arts in social studies education from Nicholls. He served for six years in the U.S. Navy and 24 years in the Louisiana Army National Guard until his retirement. He was a Vietnam Era veteran as well as a Persian Gulf War veteran who served in Operation Desert Storm with the former 159th MASH National Guard Unit from Jackson Barracks. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 05097, the American Legion Post No. 0011, Protector Fire Company No. 2, Louisiana State Fireman’s Association, Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity and the Single Action Shooting Society. He enjoyed Civil War re-enacting and cowboy action shooting.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society are preferred.
