Glenn E. Muzzy
Springfield, IL – Glenn E. Muzzy, 70, of Springfield died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, at home.
He was born April 19, 1938, in Peoria, Ill., the son of Ervin W. and Esther (Metz) Muzzy. He married Nancy Scandrett on March 16, 1963, in Wood River, Ill. Glenn and Nancy celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary this year.
Glenn is survived by his wife; two daughters, Michelle Ronan of Mount Airy, Md., and Deanna Muzzy of Springfield, Ill.; two grandsons, Garrett Ronan and Charles Ronan of Mount Airy, Md.; one brother, Gary Muzzy (wife, Judith) of Oviedo, Fla.; one sister, Judith Carlson (husband, Paul) of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Glenn proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960. For the past three years, he has served as president of his ship’s reunion association.
He was employed by AT&T and retired from the company in 1989 after 28 years.
He was a member of Aurora Lodge 254 AF&AM, Ansar Shrine in Springfield, Elks Lodge No. 158 in Springfield and the Telephone Pioneers.
Glenn loved to play golf and was a member of the Monday Seniors League and Tuesday Elks League, both at Lincoln Greens. He played weekly with a group of friends who traveled to many courses in the central Illinois area.
Glenn and Nancy have spent the past 10 years of their retirement traveling the country in their truck and fifth-wheel trailer. They enjoyed seeing so much of the country and making so many good friends along the way. They also took trips to Australia, Hawaii, Mexico and Canada and cruised the Panama Canal.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home in Springfield, with Masonic services to be held. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home. Burial will be in Camp Butler, where the United States Navy will conduct military honors
